In February 2011, after caravanning around mainland Australia for a couple of years, we made our way onto the Spirit of Tasmania ferry from Melbourne across Bass Strait and into Devonport and began our travels in Tasmania. After visiting the picturesque Huon Valley 30 minutes south of Hobart we made the decision to settle in Huonville, in the heart of the Valley. We purchased an idyllic block of 27 acres with river frontage on two sides just 1.5km from the town centre. We launched into clearing the neglected and overgrown land of blackberries, weeds and scrub and created what is now a fully self-sufficient farm complete with cows, goats, sheep, pigs, ducks and chickens.
We had always envisaged sharing our farm and this beautiful part of the world with others by setting up a caravan and camping ground on part of our land. Having spent two years travelling around Australia we've stayed in countless caravan parks but none have been as unique as the caravan park we have built here on our farm in Tassie!
We are passionate about living simply and sustainably from the food that we grow on our farm. We believe that anyone can grow their own food and that it may even be as simple as putting a few seeds into the ground or keeping a chook or two in your backyard. Here on our farm you can experience feeding scraps to the pigs and collecting freshly laid eggs from the chook pen. You can also see how we make beautiful cheeses from the milk produced by Honey and Myrtle, our two beautiful milking cows.
We invite you to spend your holiday here at our picturesque caravan park and farm where you can do as much or as little as you please!
